Welcome to Golden.

Where the West Lives," is the proud motto of Golden. Dining, museums, celebrations and town events, free brewery tours, farmer's markets—you can find it all in this charming and cultural city just west of Denver. The arts, history, the wonderful outdoors, town parks, and more recommend themselves to visitors. Fossil Trace Golf Course will challenge you and the Clear Creek History Park will both entertain and stimulate your mind.

Not only is Golden home to Coors Brewery, but also the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the Colorado Railroad Museum, and the National Earthquake Information Center. The list of attractions and interesting tidbits goes on, but just two more is that the Jolly Rancher candy was born here and "Buffalo Bill" Cody is buried nearby on Lookout Mountain.

Just north of I-70 at the edge of the Front Range and nestled between Lookout Mountain and North and South Table Mountains, this small city lying along Clear Creek was founded in 1859 as a mining town during the Pike's Peak Gold Rush and originally named Golden City. Surprisingly, the name doesn't come from the ore, but from a man, Thomas L. Golden, an early miner in the area.
